Crystal Clear

Sometimes the absence of color, of texture, of pattern, of visual weight....
speaks the most...
speaks for itself...
makes the most dramatic statement...
holds the most impact...

in its pure simplicity...

Hicks Inspired Kitchen

My love for the turn-of-the-century industrial feel of Hicks pendant lighting is quite possibly one of my {many} deepest rooted design obsessions. I love the juxtaposition and contrast between utilitarian and subtle glamour with the brass banding detail. I love the pairing of black and white hemispheres. I love the simplicity. I love the impact. So, when I came across some stunning kitchen appliances sporting the same brassy appeal I knew an inspiration board was a must.

Distressed chevron wood floors, distressed farmhouse tables, crisp white glass cabinetry, De Gournay hand painted accent wallpaper, mid century chairs with brass detailing, loads of quirky accents, and bold, modern, geometric tile backsplash creates an updated turn-of-the-century feel:

Oh, how I wish I was sipping my coffee there now....

Monograms

Like any good southern belle, I strongly believe that a room (or an outfit for that matter) isn't quite yet complete until it is personalized with the mark of a monogram. This classic and timeless calligraphic individualized stamp pays homage to traditional antebellum port side cities and front porch upbringings with classic values but is easily juxtaposed with vivid colors and patterns for a modern translation and a bold next generation appeal:

subtle, stately, regal, timeless, classic, refined, posh, polished, simplistic, structured...
a final personal touch
a monogram.

Casamidy

I am head over heels in love right now with Casamidy. They combine sleek contemporary designs with intricately crafted artisan detailing to reveal truly original and one-of-a-kind showstoppers for the home. Each item is so distinctively showcased in regards to silhouette, surface material, and signature presentation that its simplistic elegance shoots it into over the top regality in regards to aesthetics. Each piece is so beautifully thought out. A focal for any space for sure. Care to see why?

I Dare You

Good design is completely subjective and is never limited to the confines of predetermined societal classifications of "apropo." In fact, I'd venture to say that the best designs are the ones that consistently raise eyebrows, raise temperatures, raise conflicting opinions, and get people talking....get people looking...They create a palpable tension that boarders on insainely creative genius and sheer insanity. It's a fine line that has to be walked with care and finesse in order to not topple over into the dark abyss of a missed target that is the later. A beautiful example? Very Kelly Wearstler inspired graffiti haphazardly yet oh-so intentionally crafted onto foyer walls, stairs, curtains, fabrics, furnishings in a laissez faire proclamaition of artistic liberation...

Indeed a very fine line and bold step outside of convention. But, there is beauty in the craft of originality and fearless endeavors. Are you brave enough to try it? I dare you...go ahead...paint it,
