Fashion's Night Out: Recap

Last night I donned a sheer blue frock, sparkly vest, a hefty helping of leopard print,
and piled on the jewelry until I could have passed for Liberace...

and then headed out to Charlotte's Fashion's Night Out at Neiman Marcus
with two of my best friends (my mom and little sister- we missed our
third lovely lady who's off at school!)

It was a lovely event (although I certainly wish I could have been strutting 5th Ave. for NYC's FNO with my best girlfriend!) and now with the nip of autumn in the air I am more than ready for chunky knits, cashmere sweaters, leather jackets, nubby scarves, floppy felt hats, and lots and lots of boots! Here is a recap of some of the fashion trends that are going to be HUGE this fall season:

1.Bordeaux- whether you are drinking it, wearing it, or wearing it after you drink it this rich wine color perfectly encapsulates the romance of fall. Pair it with blushes and berries for a color blocking effect that is sensationally feminine and flirtatiously fall.

2. Faux fur EVERYTHING! scarves, vests, wraps, purses, clutches, lined boots. Faux is going to be everywhere this fall. Select this trend with a discriminating eye to ensure your faux is not a cheep looking faux pas.

3. Leather- this fall we will see leather showing up in unexpected ways...a flouncy, full, and pleated leather mini...a pencil skirt with leather side panels...leather tuxedo pants and leather lapels...find a unique way to rock your leather this season.

4.Jewel tones- royal blue, citron, chartreuse, plum, amethyst, canary, topaz...brighten up your black, grey, camel, caramel, taupe, tawny, navy, and heather with bursts of vibrant and saturated hues fit for royalty.

5. Leopard- love, love, love! Whether a purse, a belt, a clutch, or an unexpected pair of loafers be sure to incorporate this timelessly fierce print into your wardrobe.

6. Rhinestones- the sparkle trend is still huge. Layer on piles of vintage and costume jewels for a truly unique and eclectic neck party.

7. Sparkle- Sequined blazers for daytime? YES PLEASE! Bedazzled skirts, jackets, lapels, sleeves, and details are more than appropriate to juge up your 9 to 5.

8.1960's/ 1970's- With shows like Mad Men and Pan Am taking over our prime time a resurgence and re-glamorization of this era gone by is hitting the fashion scene HARD. Take feminine and ladylike cues from the peals and shift dresses of Betty Draper or go completely boho and rock a floppy hat and wide leg trousers either way you will be right on trend.

9. Ankle booties- edge up your feminine frocks with daring and edgy footwear. Dark and dangerous with hidden platforms, leather piping, spikes, studs, or chains, these will cement your ensemble as totally fall fashion forward...and for daytime or downtime? rock a lower heel or flat pair of sueded ankle booties.

Happy Shopping,
