Pattern inspiration: Tortoise Shell

I think I first fell in love with tortoise shell when I saw this display of perfection in The Tides Hotel in Miami by none other than THE Kelly Wearstler:

There is no discrepancy that tortoise shell conveys an aesthetic and attitude of decadence, luxury, understated glamour, sophistication, polish, and timeless and classic style.

It is refined, regal, and effortlessly elegant.

It's dashingly unexpected,

and incredibly fashion forward yet an age old staple.

The refined and distinguished aristocracy of such a pattern often lends itself to a hefty price tag when used in elaborate proportions, however, here are a range of my favorite tortoise accents and accessories that are sure to comply:

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

Note: Item 9 is a beyond fabulous DIY tutorial that I am itching to try...what better way to add some panache to your furniture than to speckle it with paints and stains yourself!

Sidebar: perfectly accent your tortoise shell with saffron, pumpkin, a dash of leopard print, bordeaux, hunter green, soft ivory, dramatic lacquered black, deep plum, peacock blue, or spiced apple red
